How to use WordPress Theme Detector
- Enter the URL of a public page on the website you want to check.
- Choose Detect theme and wait for the website check.
- Review the theme folder references and any available stylesheet details.
- Open View public evidence to see the asset URLs behind each result. Try another public page if few assets are visible.
Worked example
Public asset paths can reveal WordPress components. This example illustrates the evidence used by the tool.
Input
https://example.com/wp-content/themes/sample-theme/style.css
Output
Theme folder: sample-theme Theme Name: Sample Theme (when provided by style.css)
The result describes a public asset reference. It does not prove that a component is active on every page or list components with no visible assets.
What the tool checks
The tool reads the HTML returned by the URL and looks for WordPress paths in scripts, stylesheets, and image references. It does not log in, execute the target website JavaScript, or guess hidden plugin files.
For themes on the same hostname, it also attempts to read the public style.css header for the theme name, author, version, and parent theme folder. Up to three stylesheets are checked. External CDN theme assets are shown as evidence without fetching their stylesheets.
Understanding the results
A page may reference cached or inactive component assets. Results are evidence to investigate, rather than a complete inventory or a security assessment. No visible references does not mean WordPress or its components are absent.
Parent and child theme assets may both appear. A stylesheet version describes its public header and may be stale; the tool does not guarantee which theme is currently active.
When detection is limited
Renamed content directories, combined assets, a CDN, login requirements, or bot protection can hide identifying paths. Private addresses and nonstandard website ports are not supported.
Checks are limited to ten per ten minutes per client. A blocked, unreachable, oversized, or slow page produces an explanation so you can try another public URL.
Frequently asked questions
Can this find every theme?
No. The tool reports publicly visible references on one page. Hidden, renamed, or unreferenced assets cannot be identified reliably.
Does this require a WordPress login?
No. Only public pages are requested. Never enter passwords or private links.
Why does a WordPress website return no results?
Its assets may be renamed, combined, loaded only with JavaScript, or blocked from automated requests. Try another public page.
