How to use AI Image Metadata Remover

  1. Select up to 10 PNG, JPEG, or WebP images, or drop them into the tool. Each image can be up to 20 MB and 24 megapixels; the combined batch limit is 100 MB.
  2. Review each preview and the metadata types found. Add more images, remove individual files, or clear the selection before processing. Private metadata values are not displayed.
  3. Choose Remove metadata to clean all readable images in the selection. Each cleaned copy is checked again; a damaged or unsupported file does not stop the other images.
  4. Download cleaned images individually or choose Download all cleaned images (ZIP). Keep originals if you need generation settings or Content Credentials later.

Worked example

A generated PNG contains embedded prompt and workflow information.

Input

artwork.png
PNG text: generation parameters and ComfyUI workflow
EXIF: software and creation details

Output

artwork.png
PNG text and EXIF blocks removed
Original PNG image data retained

The tool removes descriptive metadata containers without needing to know which AI generator wrote them. It does not change ordinary PNG image data, remove visible marks, or determine how the artwork was created.

What this tool removes

For PNG, the tool removes text chunks, including compressed text, prompts, workflow JSON, XMP, EXIF, timestamps, and other nonessential ancillary chunks. For JPEG, it removes EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comments, embedded thumbnails, and nonessential application segments. For WebP, it removes EXIF, XMP, and unknown non-image chunks.

Embedded Content Credentials or JUMBF containers are removed when stored in the descriptive metadata areas handled by this tool. Data appended after the image container is also discarded. Color profiles and essential display information are retained to preserve appearance.

Image quality and orientation

Ordinary images keep their original format, dimensions, compressed image data, and transparency. Metadata removal does not re-compress those image pixels. Animated PNG and WebP files are currently unsupported and receive a readable error.

If an EXIF tag rotates or mirrors the image, the browser applies that orientation and exports a fresh PNG. This path uses browser color rendering and may produce a larger file. Each output is limited to 20 MB, and cleaned images are limited to 100 MB combined. Review the preview and downloaded image before sharing.

Privacy and limitations

File reading, metadata removal, image previews, and downloads run in your browser. The tool does not send image contents to an API. Original files are never overwritten. The website still has its separate consent, analytics, and advertising services.

Visible watermarks and provenance signals encoded in the image pixels are not removed. Removing metadata does not prove an image is human-made, guarantee that an AI detector will give a particular result, or change rights associated with an image. This is an embedded descriptive metadata cleaner, not an AI detector.

A file extension alone does not establish the format. Empty, damaged, unsupported, animated, and oversized files are rejected. If the tool finds no removable metadata, it offers a checked copy and says so. Files with errors are listed separately and excluded from downloads; other readable images can still be cleaned.

Bulk actions and downloads

Clean up to 10 images in one batch, including a mix of PNG, JPEG, and WebP. Add more images up to the limit, remove individual images, replace the selection, or clear everything. Selecting or dropping more than 10 images is rejected; no files are silently discarded.

Progress and results are shown per image. Download one cleaned image or save all successful results in a ZIP created in your browser. Original filenames are preserved, including spaces, Unicode characters, and extensions such as .jpeg. If rotation requires PNG export, only the extension changes to .png. Duplicate filenames stay unchanged and are placed in separate numbered folders inside the ZIP to avoid overwriting files. Changing the selection clears previous results to prevent stale downloads.

Frequently asked questions

Will it remove AI prompts and generation settings?

It removes the supported descriptive metadata blocks that may contain prompts, model settings, seeds, and workflow information. For example, PNG text chunks used by some image generators are removed as a whole. It does not identify or erase signals stored in the image pixels.

Does it remove visible watermarks or make an image undetectable as AI?

No. Visible watermarks and signals encoded in image pixels remain. The tool does not identify the image generator or promise any AI detector result.

Are my images uploaded?

No image contents are uploaded for processing. The tool reads your file locally and creates a download in your browser.

Will my image lose quality?

Ordinary files retain their compressed image data, format, dimensions, and transparency. Images that rely on EXIF rotation are rendered upright and exported as PNG using browser color rendering. Color profiles and essential display information are retained for ordinary files.

Can it clean photos and other images too?

Yes. It works on readable still PNG, JPEG, and WebP images, including photos. EXIF may contain location, camera, or creation details; removing its block removes those stored details. You can clean up to 10 images per batch and download them individually or together as a ZIP.

Can I remove metadata from 10 images at once?

Yes. Select or drop up to 10 still PNG, JPEG, or WebP images. Each image can be up to 20 MB and 24 megapixels; batches are limited to 100 MB combined input and cleaned output. Download successful results individually or in one ZIP. Damaged or unsupported files are listed with errors and excluded from downloads.
